A gym
in a former theatre

This project is set within a very distinctive building: a former theatre in the city centre dating from the early 20th century. The primary focus was on ensuring that the building’s current use could be reversed. Externally, the building has remained completely unchanged, whilst internally its character reflects the unique nature of the brand that has taken up residence there.

As the building was formerly a theatre, it had virtually no external lighting. The challenge was to turn this into a key feature and a defining characteristic.
The image below shows the shower rooms, which retain the same character as the rest of the gym.

In the central entrance hall, the original chandeliers and banister have been retained, evoking and recreating the building’s unique and elegant character from its former days.
