An apartment
in Milan

In this project in the centre of Milan, the challenge was to give each room in the home its own distinct character, tailored to its specific purpose. The flat is part of a block of flats dating from the early 1900s, and the renovation work covered everything from the plasterwork to the flooring, and from updating the building services to the windows and doors.

The primary aim was to give the rooms a understated character – elegant and refined, with a touch of boldness, yet one that would not become tiresome over time.
The image above shows the kitchen opening onto the central hallway.
This hallway was a space that was carefully planned and discussed at length, serving as a link to every room.
It features a recessed plasterboard ceiling with LED strips on all sides, illuminating the walls. This recessed ceiling enhances the sense of height in the adjoining rooms as you enter them, as shown in the photo below (living area).

Beneath the sleeping area is a bespoke unit running the full length of the wall, echoing the warm tones found throughout the flat.
